Watch: Official Trailer of the Amy Winehouse Documentary, ‘Amy’

If you are a Pearl Mic’er, then you are familiar with how I feel about Amy Winehouse’s untimely death, in this blog post. At 27 years old she was at the prime of her career that most people only dream about, but the wrong kind of love, too much drugs, and the pressures of the industry turned her into someone her family no longer recognized. Though we are all aware of her tragic ending, the documentary Amy hopes to dispel some misconceptions of the Grammy award-winning singer. From her humble beginnings to her controversial ending, viewers will get to see an up-close look at the woman underneath the signature black beehive and wing-tip eyeliner. Here’s a sneak peek of the documentary:

From The Pearl Mic Inbox – Anita Nicole’s Ecstasy

ANITAnIC
Anita Nicole, a London-based singer-songwriter, dropped a gem into our inbox. The 19-year-old shared her new track Ecstasy, a single from her debut EP of the same name. Pulling from the roots of 90s R&B, the smooth track showcases her love-tinged vocals and mature perspective on relationships.

Having just completed her schooling at Brit of the Performing Arts & Technology, where Adele, Amy Winehouse, Leona Lewis, and Jessie J honed their skills, she is ready to follow her predecessors footsteps.

Amy Winehouse: Gone Too Soon!

Though Amy Winehouse was on a destructive path for majority of her music career, her lyrics always represented the brilliant side of herself. Artists like her are one of the reasons why I love music. Tracks such as, Love is A Losing Game, made me laugh, made me cry, and definitely made me dance. Below are a list of her songs that I will always adore. RIP Amy.
